Richard D. Wojtaszek

Richard D. Wojtaszek, 70, of North Grafton, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, November 5, 2017 surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Charlotte L. (Busby) Wojtaszek, and the couple had celebrated their 46th wedding anniversary in May of this year.

Richard was born in Acushnet, MA and was the son of Josephine (Bralewski) Wojtaszek and the late Frank Wojtaszek, Sr. of New Bedford, MA. He attended grammar school at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in New Bedford, MA and Holy Family High School also in New Bedford, MA. He graduated from college, attending New Bedford Institute of Textiles and Technology, now known as UMass Dartmouth.

Richard was employed as a Textile Technologist and project officer for protective clothing for the U.S Navy for 40 years prior to his retirement. He worked directly with life preserver manufacturers to modify Coast Guard-approved products to meet the Navy's standards, and designed flame resistant protective clothing for typical fire environments encountered aboard Navy ships.

Richard took great pleasure in family trips and golfing at resorts in Maine. He was an avid handyman and loved home-repair projects and working on automobiles in his spare time. Later in life, he enjoyed Gloucester whale watches and sailing, and took interest in golf, weather, and home improvement shows.

Richard was also passionate about music and was a long-time volunteer at WICN Radio Station in Worcester, MA, hosting the New Age music program Tonal Vision.

In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by two children, Kevin R. Wojtaszek of North Grafton, Carrie A. Landquist and her husband, Cal, of Glocester, RI, and his two brothers, Frank Wojtaszek, Jr., of Annadale, VA and Steven Wojtaszek of Littleton, MA.

Richard was a communicant of St. Luke the Evangelist Church in Westborough. His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, November 10, at 10:30 A.M. in St. Luke the Evangelist Church, 70 West Main St., Westborough. Burial will follow in St. Luke’s Cemetery.

Calling hours will be held at the David A. Pickering Westborough Funeral Home, 62 West Main St., Westborough on Thursday, November 9, from 4 to 7 P.M.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to St. Luke the Evangelist Church Memorial Fund, 70 West Main St., Westborough, MA 01581.
