WESTBOROUGH- Robert P. Galipeau, 86, of Westborough, passed away on Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at the UMass/Memorial Healthcare- University Hospital, Worcester. He was the husband of Jeannette G. (Baril) Galipeau.
Born in Northbridge, he was the son of the late Fred and Beatrice (Fitzpatrick) Galipeau. He was educated in Worcester schools and graduated from Taber Academy.
During the Korean Conflict he served as a paratrooper with the U.S Army, attaining the rank of Sergeant.
Bob was employed as the Director of Customer Service for Commonwealth Gas Company and was employed at the company for 39 years prior to his retirement.
He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in North Grafton, was a former member and past president of the Westborough Rotary Club and was a life member of the North American Hunting Club.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children, Denise Williams and her husband, Wayne Kingston, of Peabody, Paul Galipeau and his wife, Elizabeth, of Millbury, Christine Conway and her husband, Robert, of Sterling and Brian Galipeau and his wife, Lisa, of Sutton; five grandchildren and four great-granddaughters.
He was the brother of the late Raymond Galipeau.
His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, August 23, at 10:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church, 17 Waterville St., North Grafton. Burial, with Military Honors, will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery, Westborough.
Calling hours at the Britton-Summers Funeral Home, 4 Church St., Westborough, are private for family members and Gas Company associates on Friday, August 22, from 5 to 7 P.M.
