WESTBOROUGH

Robert C. “Bob” True Jr, 89, of Westborough passed away peacefully surrounded by his children on Monday, December 4, 2023.

He was the son of the late Robert and Edith (Clifton) True and married to the late Marion (Buschmann) True for 62 years. A loving and supportive father, Bob is survived by four daughters and one son: Sharon True and her husband Adrian Alcalá of Great Barrington, MA; Laury True and her partner Paul McCormick of Chesnee, SC; Tracy Truzansky and her partner Beth of Burlington, VT; Stephanie Peters and her husband Daniel of Mansfield, MA; and Robert C. True III and his wife Nancy of Mansfield, MA. He was the beloved grandfather of ten grandchildren: Tavo and Tamsin True-Alcalá; Brendan and Eric Hale; April and Faith Truzansky; Jackson and Chloe Peters; and Alison and Colin True.

Bob was born in Waltham, MA, and spent his youth in Belmont. He attended Belmont schools and graduated from Bates College in 1955 with a BA degree in Economics. Following graduation, he taught for one year at Fessenden School for Boys in Newton, MA, then joined the Group Insurance Sales Division of New England Life Insurance Company, moving with wife Marion to Cleveland, OH. His career path took him to New York, Ohio, and Massachusetts and included positions with Marsh McLennan in Buffalo, First Trust and Deposit Bank in Syracuse, Ryan Homes in Dayton, Framingham National Bank in Framingham, Design Data in Marlborough, and Tab Services in Auburndale.

In the mid-seventies, Bob formed a consulting firm, RCTII, serving the data processing needs of numerous commercial banks, both nationally and internationally. His interests in retirement included participation in Westborough Local Access Cable Television and active membership in the Westborough Tennis and Swim Club.

Bob particularly enjoyed spending time with his entire family during summer vacations in East Dennis, MA, including many years as captain of his powerboat, True Love, cruising around Cape Cod Bay. He and Marion took several memorable river boat cruises along the Atlantic Coast and Great Lakes.

Bob was an active member of the Willows Retirement Community in Westborough, taking leadership roles on the Buildings and Grounds Committee. He enjoyed his weekly poker games with his Willows friends. He is remembered by administrators, staff, and friends alike as a smart, helpful man with a quick wit and great sense of humor.

A celebration of life will be held in the community room at the Willows, 1 Lyman Street, Westborough, on December 17 from 1 - 4 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Hospice Foundation of America.
