Ruth O. Welsh, 92, of Westborough, passed away on Monday, November 14, 2016 at the UMass/Memorial Healthcare-University Hospital in Worcester. She was the wife of the late Raymond E. Welsh who died in 2006.
Born in Framingham, she was the daughter of the late Mark and Gertrude (Travers) O’Brien. She was educated in Westborough schools and was a 1942 graduate of Westborough High School.
Ruth was employed as an administrative secretary for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in the Department of Civil Defense.
She was a former member of the Westborough Community Chorus, the VFW Women’s Auxiliary, enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and has been a resident of Westborough almost all of her life.
Ruth is survived by one son, Kevin Welsh of Englewood, FL; one daughter, Kathryn Welsh and her husband, Kurt Rissmiller, of Westborough; one brother, Gerald O’Brien and his wife, Joan, of Westborough; five grandchildren, Kendra McGovern and her husband, Gary, Matthew Clark and his wife, Rabbekka, Robert Taylor and his wife, Jessie, Cody Welsh and his wife, Serena and Devyn Welsh; four great-grandchildren, Caleb and Eli Clark, Brady McGovern and Kannon Welsh and many nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Marjorie Lightbody, Joan Wood and William O’Brien.
Services and burial in Pine Grove Cemetery will be private. There are no calling hours.
