Ruthe B. Flynn., of Westborough, MA, formerly of Centerville, MA passed away on Wednesday, April 11th, 2018. Ruthe was born on December 6, 1926 in Boston, MA to the late Michael and Mary Doherty. Ruthe grew up the youngest of four children in a loving Irish family in Jamaica Plain, MA along with her 2 sisters Mary and Jenny and her brother Joseph. She graduated from Jamaica Plain High School in 1944 and following graduation she worked at a military base as a telephone operator in California during World War 2. After the war, Ruthe married John Flynn, her high school sweetheart, in 1947 and was happily married for 65 years until John’s passing. Together they had 4 children John, Denise, Brian and Donna. After her children were grown she worked as a bank teller at Society for Saving Bank in Avon Connecticut and was active with the Democratic Party and was elected Connecticut Democrat of the Year for 1989. Ruthe’s pride and joy was her family. Ruthe is survived by her four children John (his wife Patti) from Kent, Ct., Denise (her husband Tom) Rudy from Fairport, N.Y. - Brian (his wife Carol) from Bradenton, FL. and Donna (her husband George) Goodliffe from Westborough, MA. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren. Kevin Flynn, Kristan Domanski, Ryan Flynn, Erica Foster, Scott Flynn, Shaun Rudy, Shannon Jadlocki, Brian Goodliffe, Brendan Goodliffe and 14 great grandchildren (with #15 on the way). She will always be remembered for her happy smile, positive attitude, and giving nature. Calling hours at the Pickering and Son Westborough Funeral Home, 62 West Main St., are Friday May 11th, from 5-8pm. Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, May 12th, at 10:00 A.M. in St. Luke the Evangelist Church, 70 West Main St., Westborough. Burial will follow in St. Luke's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in her memory may be made to Tidewell Hospice Philanthropy Dept. 5955 Rand Blvd. Sarasota Florida 34238 or to the Alzheimer’s Association.
