Shirley H. Hero

Westborough

Shirley H. Hero, 95, of Westborough, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 11, 2017, at the Beaumont Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center, surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late John R. "Jack" Hero. Shirley was pre deceased by two sisters; Virginia Anzivino and Dorothy Evans.

Born in Nuneaton, England, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Helen (Fox) Pickering. She was a 1940 graduate of Westborough High School and also graduated from the South Middlesex Secretarial School in Framingham.

Shirley was an active, life-long member of The Congregational Church of Westborough, where she was a member of the choir and bell choir. She was also a member of the Westborough Food Pantry, the Central Mass Model T Club, Tower Hill Botanical Garden and the Ladies Lunch Bunch.

Shirley is survived by one daughter, Susan C. Kinell and her husband, Jeffrey, of East Lyme, CT, six sons, John R. Hero, Jr., and his wife, Jane, of Brooklin, ME, David V. Hero and his wife, Paula, of Westborough, Stephen L. Hero and his wife, Marilyn, of Lakewood, OH, Alan W. Hero and his wife, Pamela, of Brewster, Scott R, Hero and his wife, Lorrie, of Barrington, RI and Jeffrey B. Hero, of Minneapolis, MN. She is also survived by her former daughter-in-law, Candace Rogala, of Casco, ME. Grandma Shirley loved, and will be missed, by her 14 Grandchildren and 13 Great Grandchildren.

She found Joy in all living things, with love of family, friends and especially babies.

The family would like to recognize the staff at Beaumont of Westborough, for their kindness and compassion.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, April 19, at 11:00 A.M. in The Congregational Church of Westborough, 57 West Main St., Westborough. Burial in Pine Grove Cemetery will be private. There are no calling hours.
