WESTBOROUGH- Stanley R. Melin, 90, of Westborough, passed away on Monday, April 28, 2014 at the Lutheran Rehabilitation and Skilled Care Center in Worcester.

Born in Franklin, MA he was the son of the late Runar and Ruth (Carr) Melin. He was educated in Franklin and was a 1941 graduate of Franklin High School. He also attended and graduated from Dean Junior College.

During WW II he served with the United States Army Air Corps attaining the rank of Sergeant.

Stanley was employed as an electrical engineer at Fenwall in Ashland for 40 years retiring in 1989.

He was a member of The Congregational Church of Westborough, was an active member of the Westborough Senior Center and served on its board of directors. He also volunteered many hours for the American Red Cross and had donated over 10 gallons of blood.

Stan is survived by his wife, Dorothy (Faulkner) Melin; five children, Jeffrey Melin of S. Windsor, CT, Clayton Melin of E. Haddam, CT, Diane Badertscher of Boulder, CO, Douglas Melin of Merritt Island, FL and Karen Bridges of Beaufort, NC; two brothers, Kenneth Melin of Hopedale and John O’Rourke of Methuen; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

His funeral service will be held on Monday, May 5, at 10:00 A.M. in The Congregational Church of Westborough, West Main St., Westborough. Burial, with military honors, will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery.

Calling hours at the Rand-Harper-Pickering Westborough Funeral Home, 62 West Main St., Westborough, are Sunday, May 4, from 2 to 5 P.M.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund.
