Stephen J. FitzGerald, 66, of Northborough, formerly of Westborough, died on Sunday, October 11, 2015 at the UMass/Memorial Healthcare-University Hospital in Worcester.

Born in Boston, he was the son of the late John T. and Gertrude (Foley) FitzGerald. He was educated in Westborough schools and was a 1966 graduate of Westborough High School. Following graduation he joined the U. S. Army Reserves serving as a medic.

Stephen was the former owner of The Place Diner in Boylston and the Center Café in Westborough. He also worked as a sales manager for McShera Sales in Westborough, a bartender and manager for On the Green at Westborough Country Club and at The Grafton Inn. Most recently he was employed as a manger for Super Duck Tours in Boston.

Stephen served as the Westborough Softball Commissioner, was co-founder of YAC Productions and was a charter member of the VFW Post where he served in a number of elected positions within the post.

He was a worldwide traveler making many trips to Ireland.

Stephen is survived by several dear cousins and many close friends here and in Ireland. In addition to his parents he was pre-deceased by his brother, Peter FitzGerald.

His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 21, at 10:30 A.M. in St. Luke the Evangelist Church, 70 West Main St., Westborough. Interment services will be held in Ireland. There are no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Hungry Harry’s Team for Multiple Sclerosis, National Multiple Sclerosis Society, 101A First Ave., Suite 6, Waltham, MA 02451.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of David A. Pickering, Westborough Funeral Home, 62 West Main St., Westborough.
