Susan Hathaway-Blois

Susan (Butterfield) Hathaway-Blois, 78, born in Providence, Rhode Island passed away peacefully on January 9, 2025, surrounded by family. She was the beloved wife of Dexter P. Blois, with whom she shared 43 wonderful years of marriage.

Susan was the daughter of the late Gilbert and Harriett (Arakelian) Butterfield and sister to the late Carol Butterfield and Nancy Butterfield Doolittle. She is survived by her children, David Hathaway (Adela) and Jeffrey Hathaway, both of Florida; her stepchildren, Kimberly Halloran (Kevin) of New Hampshire and William Blois (Tina) of South Dakota; her brother-in-law, John Doolittle of Rhode Island; and her cherished grandchildren, Blake Hathaway and Daniel Halloran.

A graduate of Classical High School in Providence, Susan went on to earn her degree from the University of Rhode Island School of Pharmacy in 1969. Susan worked as a Registered Pharmacist for 34 years. Her professional accomplishments were complemented by a life filled with service and community involvement. Susan was an active member of the Westborough Garden Club, Westborough Historical Society, Westborough Food Pantry, and Bloom and Grow Garden Society in Winter Garden, Florida. She also gave her time generously as a volunteer with Matthew’s Hope Ministries and the AARP Tax Aide Program in Florida.

In retirement, Susan pursued her passions for gardening, travel, and needlepoint. She was a member of the Congregational Church of Westborough in Massachusetts and attended the First United Methodist Church of Winter Garden in Florida.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Congregational Church of Westborough. A second service will take place in Winter Garden in the spring.
