Timothy “Tim” John O’Neil, 71, of Westborough, MA, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, January 5th, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Tim was the son of the late John Gregory “Greg” O’Neil and Alma Lucille (Harvey) O’Neil, and was born in Natick, MA, on February 17th, 1952.
Tim was the sixth of twelve children. Tim was a life-long resident of Westborough and graduated from Westborough High School in 1970. He was married to his high school sweetheart Dorothy “Dotty” A. (Roche) O’Neil of Upton, MA, on January 2nd, 1971 and recently celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary.
Tim is survived by Dotty and their five children, Julia O’Neil-Welch her husband Patrick Welch, son Aaron O’Neil, son Luke O’Neil, daughter Emily O’Neil and son David O’Neil and his wife Shannon Kennedy. He is also survived by three grand-children Laura (Welch) Buchanan and her husband David Buchanan III, Alexander Welch and his fiancé Alexa Pacheco, and Merideth Welch, as well as two great-grand-daughters Iris Buchanan and Meadow Welch. Tim enjoyed being part of a large family and cared greatly for his many brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Tim had a gift, love and curiosity of figuring out how to repair and build almost anything. Tim worked with his brothers in the family construction business O’Neil Construction for many years and then changed careers working for Siemens Nixdorf as a field engineer for 23 years. He finished up his career working for F.H. Perry as a construction project manager. After retirement Tim enjoyed helping his beloved family members spending much of his time building and repairing their homes, cars and electronics. Tim could build or fix just about anything.
Tim will be missed greatly by his loving family and friends.
Tim was baptized at and was a life-long member of Saint Luke’s Catholic Church in Westborough.
Calling hours will be held from 4 to 8 P.M. on Friday, January 12th, in the Pickering & Son Westborough Funeral Home, 62 West Main Street, Westborough.
His funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 A.M. on Saturday, January 13th, in St. Luke the Evangelist Church, 70 West Main Street, Westborough. Burial will follow in St. Luke’s Cemetery, Westborough.
