Valerie T. Caron, 88 of Westborough passed away on Sunday, March 14, 2021. She was predeceased by her husband of 61 years George R. Caron Jr.
Born in Killingly CT, she was the daughter of the late Norman and Elizabeth (Butterworth) Tennett.
Valerie attended Killingly High School and graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Wells College.
She was awarded a Fulbright scholarship and received a MA from the University of Lille in France.
Valerie was employed at the family business, Micro Corporation and later at The Book Corner, both in Westborough.
She is a former partner of Alternative Truck and Auto in Millbury, MA.
Valerie designed and made elaborate and beautiful Halloween costumes for her children and her grandchildren that her family will pass down to future generations.
She was a Girl Scout leader for several years and volunteered hundreds of hours at Westborough State Hospital.
Valerie loved to read and garden and attend the opera.
Valerie supported her husband, son and friends when they raced with the Sports Car Club of America. Starting in the late 1960’s, she cooked dinner every Wednesday night for the people working on the cars.
The Wednesday night dinner tradition continued for more than 50 years until the pandemic began in 2020.
Valerie is survived by two children, Elizabeth C. Conrad and her husband, Robert, of Napa, CA and Thomas R. Caron and his wife, Teresa, of Westborough and three grandchildren, Genevieve Conrad, Colin Caron and Richard Caron and the Wednesday Night Crew.
Services and interment will be private.
