Vivian C. McDonald, 96, of Westborough, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 6, 2024, at home surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Douglass McDonald.
Born in Athol, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Cecile (Mallet) Blanchard. She was raised and educated in Athol and was a graduate of Athol High School.
Vivian was a puzzle master, a runner, a hockey player/coach artist and reader. She loved to shop for bargains. She was a collector of paper weights, and bird figurines and an avid gardener. Viv had an unflagging spirit, a smile on her face, and a twinkle in her eye. Most of all she took pride in her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren and loved spending time with her family.
She is survived by seven children, Lauren Warick of Santa Cruz, CA, Scott McDonald and his wife, Anne, of Auburn, Bruce McDonald and his wife, Donna, of Westborough, Peter McDonald and his wife Marie, of Sutton, Lynn Haapanen of Berlin, Douglass McDonald and his husband, Michael Doylen of Milwaukee, WI and David McDonald and his wife, Ammie, of Sutton; two brothers, Raymond Blanchard of Athol and Richard Blanchard of Wisconsin; 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
A private graveside service will take place in Pine Grove Cemetery.
