WESTBOROUGH- William H. Barrett, Jr., 85, of Westborough, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 6, 2012 at St. Vincent Hospital, Worcester. He was the husband of the late M. Theresa (Sullivan) Barrett.
Born in Worcester, he was the son of the late William and Minnie (Tremblay) Barrett. He was educated in Worcester schools and graduated from Worcester Junior College.
During the end of WW II he served with the U. S. Navy at the Naval Air Station Pensacola.
Bill enjoyed a long career as an account executive in the plumbing supply industry, most recently with Colt Plumbing Company.
He was a communicant of St. Luke the Evangelist Church where he sang in the choir. He was a founding member of the Westborough Community Chorus, a member of the American Legion, a former member of the Knights of Columbus and the Westborough Players Club.
Bill loved singing, playing the saxophone, dancing and illustration. He also enjoyed home improvement projects, carpentry and gardening. He was proud of his military service and association with the American Legion, and had a lifelong interest in WW II history. He was an avid Red Sox fan.
He is survived by his four children, Bonnie A. Barrett of Brooklyn, NY; William H. Barrett, III of Worcester; Kerrie J. Barrett of Westborough and Kara-Jean M. Barrett of Gijon, Spain; two grandchildren, Benjamin Leverone Barrett and Noah Liam Barrett-Arrango as well as many nieces and nephews.
His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, September 11, at 10:30 A.M. in St. Luke the Evangelist Church, 70 West Main St., Westborough. Burial, with military honors, will follow in St. Luke’s Cemetery.
Calling hours at the Britton-Summers Funeral Home, 4 Church St., Westborough, will be on Monday, September 10 from 4 to 7 P.M.
