William F. Colby, Sr.

Westborough

WESTBOROUGH- William F. Colby, Sr., 82, of Westborough, passed away on Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at St. Vincent Hospital. He was the husband of Sis (Callahan) Colby.

Born in Worcester, he was the son of the late Raymond and Elizabeth (Birch) Colby. He was a graduate of St. John’s High School class of 1949 and also graduated from Worcester Junior College and Northeastern University.

Mr. Colby was employed as Chief Engineer for United Electric Controls in Watertown prior to his retirement.

Bill was a communicant of St. Luke the Evangelist Church, a former member of the Westborough Country Club and Saddle Hill Country Club and a former member of the Knights of Columbus.

He was an avid golfer, enjoyed woodworking, was dedicated to his entire family and has lived in Westborough for 50 years.

In addition to his wife he is survived by seven children, Nancy A. Colby of Reno, Nevada, Kathleen M. Storey and her husband, Earl, of Westborough, Margaret Mary Kane of Westborough, Virginia A. Lombard and her husband, James, of Clinton, ME, Elizabeth M. Davinson  and her husband, Mark, of Lake Tahoe, CA, William F. Colby, Jr., and his wife, Staci, of Westborough and Patricia A. Colby and her partner, Paul Diette, of Garland, TX; ten grandchildren, Jessica Padula, Matthew Storey, Katie Rossi, Erin Finkelstein, Tanya Finkelstein, Rachael Kane, Kelsey Davinson, Adrian Wyatt, Olivia Colby and Paul Colby; and two great grandchildren, Isabella and Violet Padula.

He was the grandfather of the late Earl H. Storey, III and brother of the late Mike, John, Edward, Robert and Virginia McCarthy.

His funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, January 28, at 10:30 A.M. in St. Luke the Evangelist Church, 70 West Main St., Westborough. Burial will follow in St. Luke’s Cemetery.

Calling hours are Sunday, January 27, from 2 to 5 P.M. at the Rand-Harper-Pickering Westborough Funeral Home, 62 West Main St., Westborough.
